Go Cubs Go!
Lincoln attended his first Cubs game at Wrigley Field in Chicago on Sunday. Yes, he was doomed to be a Cubs fan from birth. Derrek Lee (Mommy's favorite) hit yet another home run in the first inning to get the team off to a wonderful start. The Cubs beat the Brewers 8 to 2 and Lincoln had a wonderful time. During the 4th of July weekend, Lincoln watched a parade with 20 minutes of fire engine sirens, sat mesmerized through a long fireworks display, and whooped it up with a sell-out crowd at Wrigley. Any fears we had of having an overly sensitive child were completely unfounded.
Lincoln is loving, happy, and so much fun. He has two little bottom teeth, which makes his smiles that much cuter. Because of the teething, he grabs everything to put into his mouth. Most recently, it's been Papa's beer bottles! He belly laughs uncontrollably, which in turn makes Mommy and Papa belly laugh uncontrollably. Lincoln is now eating rice cereal and loves it (at least the part that gets into his mouth!). We have carrots and beets growing in the garden for him also. It's fun to take this next step, but I must admit I'm a little emotional as we take these tiny steps away from breastfeeding. For now, nursing is still wonderful, although we did have to go through some intensive behavior training when he realized he can bite as well as suck. Ouch! He's rolling over like crazy now and scooting around, but no crawling yet. He covers quite a bit of ground, though, with the rolling and reaching. Hope you're all doing well as the summer gets into full swing!
